학원에서 Novel 시간에 진행했던 The Magic Finger 책, 그리고 배운 내용에 대해 리뷰해보겠습니다.

 

책 소개

먼저, 간단히 책에 대해 소개하면서 시작하겠습니다. "The Magic Finger" by Roald Dahl 은 동물 권리를 위해 싸우는 힘을 가진 손가락을 가진 어린 소녀에 대한 이야기입니다.

The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl is a story about a young girl with a fiery spirit, lives next door to the Gregg family. The family, Mr. and Mrs. Gregg and their two sons, Philip and William, who like to hunt for fun and this makes her very angry. The Greggs are big game hunters, and their trophies adorn their living room walls. This enrages the girl, who deeply loves animals and believes hunting is wrong.

One day, after witnessing the Greggs prepare for another hunt, the girl's anger boils over. She points her finger at them and declares, "I wish you were all turned into the things you hunt!"

Unbeknownst to her, the girl possesses a magic finger. Her wish comes true, transforming Mr. Gregg into a rhino, Mrs. Gregg into a giraffe, Philip into a fox, and William into a pheasant.

Now facing the consequences of their actions, the Greggs experience the hardships faced by the animals they hunted. Mr. Gregg struggles to graze with his bulky horn, Mrs. Gregg gets chased by lions, Philip faces the fear of being hunted, and William gets cold and hungry.

 

The Lesson Learned:

The girl, initially gleeful at their predicament, soon feels sympathy for the Greggs. She realizes that her wish, though born from anger, was cruel. She uses her magic finger again, wishing everything back to normal. The Greggs return, shaken but changed. They vow never to hunt again, deeply understanding the suffering they inflicted on animals.

교재 리뷰

학원에서 책을 가지고 배우는 과정을 보면 3주에 걸쳐 진행을 하고 있습니다. 읽으면서 책의 내용들을 잘 이해하고 있는지 확인하고, 등장 인물의 심리를 추론, 그리고 비평적 사고 연습을 합니다.

숙제로 문제를 풀고 학원 제출 후 Feedback 을 받으면 아이가 문제를 푼 것을 확인해보는데, 문장의 의미를 추론하는 부분에서 틀렸네요. 아이가 잘 이해할 수 있게 꼼꼼하게 잘 Feedback 을 주는 것을 확인할 수 있고, 아이도 내용을 잘 이해한 것을 확인할 수 있었습니다.
